The development of modern material civilization influenced on man's way of thinking, social struture, the existing value and region of religion, The christian in this scientific world is lived in anxiety, conflict and tension.
On the other hand, man as a microcosmos is closely consisted of body an spirit. And man can find their true image through relationship with God which is a key of peace.
But, Korean society of today follows seculization and realism, there is a gap between mateial civilization and mental culture. Especially, nurses need to realize the poor of spiritual culture toward its renewal of promotion and achievement.
However, nursing was stated by mother's caring of baby with self-care and family-care at the beginning of human's history, and then down to ages, it was rooted on christian spirit which has helped and taked care of the sick. Today, Nursing is a
helping
mankind for the maximum health which is involvement in all human life from birth to death.
Anyway, Many nursing leaders begin to realize that there is dehumanized phenomena and mechanical nursing services, so they suggested that a humanistic revolution in caring which needs spirituality.
For the christian nurses as witnesses of charity in the medical community, they should love to God and their neighbor and have to harmonize their holiness and mission, prayer and nursing activity, heaven and earth.
Therefore, the nursing spirituality as nurses are called to have a good mission should live in the internal life, flower of soul, existing pattern of christian & a harmonization of prayer & nursing action.
In the 20th centry, There is a famous process process theologist-Teilhard de Chardin-who influences on a world view and spirituality. He presented a christian spirituality which manas a image of God have to practice the creation mystery of God (a
spirituality of self-development), the embodiment of Christ's incarnation (through a attachment of this world to a spirituality of transcendence), a participation in Christ's salvation mystery ( a spirituality of the Cross), namely, christian
spiritual
life is to live in Christ's Pascha (from death to resurrection).
In conclusion, its goal is a love to God & neighbor, which is prayer and nursing action (water is for the plants & flowers), it will be manifested by the fruits of Spirit that is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, truth, warmth,
temperance
in all nursing activities.
